Winter Solstice Atmosphere

A series built forslow light

This series began with a simple question: what does warmth look like when the days get short? We returned to quiet forms—mugs, bowls, small plates—and let the surface do the talking.

Workbench
Kiln Fire

Wood firing is never identical. Heat, ash, and oxygen drift through the kiln like weather. We don’t “control” the outcome as much as we set the conditions—and accept what the flame decides to give.

Every piece carries its own speckle pattern and pooling line. In use, the glaze softens under morning light. These are objects meant to be held daily, not saved for a special day that never comes.

Centering clay is the first promise—balance before beauty.

Trimming

Trimming

We carve the foot by hand to lighten the form without thinning the wall.

Glazing

Glazing

Minerals settle where gravity pulls them—speckles and pooling are part of the signature.

Ash travels through heat like wind. Each surface records that path.
